Disney gives sneak peek of new Hawaii resort
0 Comments | Manila Bulletin, July 24, 2010
KAPOLEI, Hawaii (AP) – More than 80 years after Mickey Mouse piloted “Steamboat Willie” and whistled his way into the hearts of children across the world, he has finally reached the shores of Hawaii. The Walt Disney Co. on Friday gave a peek of its sprawling, beachside Hawaiian resort that is under construction and scheduled to open next year.”Aulani” is Disney’s first major standalone resort away from a theme park and could serve as a model for future projects as the company diversifies and expands its vacation offerings.”This is a very special project for us,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
“It’s unlike anything that Disney has done before; at the same time, it’s very like many of the things we do.”Aulani will have 359 hotel rooms, 481 time-share units, restaurants, a convention center, a 15,000-square-foot spa and a massive water play area that includes a volcano tube slide and snorkel lagoon. It sits on 21 acres on Oahu’s Leeward Coast in the Ko Olina development, known for its white sand lagoons, scenic golf course and colorful sunsets. Ko Olina is about an hour west of Waikiki, where most of the hotels and tourists are.Jim Lewis, president of Disney’s time-share component, said Hawaii makes “perfect sense” with its rich culture, traditions, warm greetings, family values, friendships and storytelling.”Those are also terms synonymous with Disney,” he said. “And by the way, Hawaii also happens to be one of the most popular vacation destinations on the planet, and that’s the business that we’re in.”Most of the resort is currently a jungle of concrete, steel, wires and pipes with no Mickey and Minnie in sight. Aulani is scheduled to open Aug. 29, 2011, with hotel reservations to begin next month. Time-share sales started three weeks ago. With the construction phase alone costing more than $600 million, Aulani represents a huge investment for Disney amid a sharp tourism downturn.Staggs, who previously served as Disney’s chief financial officer, wouldn’t comment on the final cost.”Are we nervous about this investment right now given this economy? The answer is we really aren’t,” he said. “We really do have a fundamental belief in this location and Hawaii in general.”Staggs called the project “a tremendous opportunity,” giving Disney a permanent presence in the islands. He wouldn’t say what other areas Disney was considering because “right now, our focus is right here and making sure we get this right.”According to an economic impact study commissioned by Disney, Aulani is expected to generate 4,800 jobs during construction

Wattles put it.
Jesus, the Master Teacher, once asked:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
With that in mind…
My question for you to ponder today is…
Are you a “free thinker” like Mr. Krabs or an “intellectual prostitute” like Carl?
The choice is yours…
Make it a good one…
It may well mean the difference between having respect for yourself and being “a lost soul”.

Looking For a Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit? Consider All Your Options First
0 Comments | Posted by admin in Uncategorized
in Health / Wellness (submitted 2010-07-09)
Looking for a reverse osmosis water purification unit? I would suggest that you consider all of your options, before you buy one, AND if you are serviced by a public treatment facility, you should know that you DO NOT need one.
If you have a private well, numerous contaminants or impurities may be causing you problems. If you haven’t had testing done, you should take that step first. Once you know what contaminants are present, you can learn about how they can be removed. With the technology that is available today, it is unlikely that a reverse osmosis water purification unit is your only option.
Those of us who are on a public waterline don’t need to have testing completed. Our treatment facilities keep us informed about some of the contaminants that are present. Chlorine, THMs, VOCs and lead are examples. We have also been informed by the Environmental Protection Agency that cysts (illness causing parasites in an early stage of development) might be present at any time, because regular testing is considered “unfeasible”.
The EPA has warned that the illness caused by cyst consumption can be very serious, even fatal, to those who have weakened immune systems, either due to a long-term illness or the treatment of one, such as chemo-therapy or immuno-suppressive drugs.
They even warn that cysts may be present in some brands of bottled water, that exposure can occur when washing fresh fruits and vegetables or brushing your teeth. So, installing a system in your home that removes the contaminants is advisable, but you don’t need a reverse osmosis water purification unit to do that.
The units are expensive to install, operate and maintain. They do not remove chemical contaminants, such as chlorine, THMs and VOCs

Help to hospital
0 Comments | Huntingdon Town Crier (St. Neots, England), April 8, 2008
Volunteers are urgently needed to help and give people an occasional lift to Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
Thanks to the efforts of the Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots Volunteer Bureaux car schemes, plus Hinchingbrooke Hospital Trust and Cambridgeshire County Council, the Volunteer Bureaux is looking to expand its car services to provide transport to local hospitals.
The scheme is aimed at helping people who have difficulty using public transport or have no other means of transport to get to Hinchingbrooke or other local hospitals for outpatient, clinic or other medical appointments.
The four market town-based schemes have already help people to get to their local GP surgery, dentist, optician, to pick up a prescription, visit relatives or friends, connect with a bus or train, or even just to go to the local shop or post office.
Anyone with an hour or two to spare is asked to contact their nearest Volunteer Bureaux in Huntingdonshire.
Volunteer drivers need to use their own vehicles, for which a mileage allowance is available through the county council, as well as additional insurance cover.
Office volunteers are also required to manage the day to day running of the scheme.
Anyone interested should call:

>> Ramsey, Warboys and District Volunteer Centre 01487 814117 or 823476
>> St Ives Volunteer Bureau 01480 301462
>> St Neots Volunteer Bureau 01480 476047
Just make sure to eat in moderation and use those special desserts as rewards, instead of enemies, to your weight loss experience.
7. Don?t always believe everything you read on a food label. ?Fat free? does not necessarily mean low calories. The same wisdom goes for foods that boast ?low sugar? or ?low carbs.? Glance over the nutrition label ? there you?ll find the calorie count.
8. Try to limit the number of juices and sugary beverages you drink. Instead, drink eight glasses water a day ? this flushes out your body?s toxins and waste.
9. If possible, keep a food journal. This will help you keep track of your calorie intake and will be a daily reminder of the types of foods you need.
10. Don?t forget to exercise! Thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity a day will ensure your health and help you lose weight (and not to mention, firm up those muscles).

The system was designed to authenticate the subscriber using shared-secret cryptography. Communications between the subscriber and the base station can be encrypted .The development of UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) introduces an optional USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module-the 3G equivalent of the GSM SIM), that uses a longer authentication key to give greater security, as well as mutually authenticating the network and the user – whereas GSM only authenticated the user to the network (and not vice versa).
Keeping this in mind,Communication intelligence groups have been continuously working for developing various systems which can help you intercept any system of mobile communications.
One such system is a GSM Interceptor, a system which is compact, innovative and can monitor and log GSM communications in real time.
The GSM Monitoring system thus developed can be configured in any LAN environment to provide a near-exact physical location of the target and to form a Central Monitoring Station.
The system Auto detects, decodes and records telephone conversations, network information in to the digital media (magnetic / optical) present in the system.
The system provides Interception and Monitoring of Short Message Service (SMS) traffic.
The system of GSM Monitoring is intended for search, interception and registration of cellular signals on standards GSM-900/1800 in stationary or in mobile variant
The need of the hour is pointing towards a more descriptive technology of Data Monitoring as well as Data Interception.

Hotel sale to free up capital
0 Comments | Dominion Post; Wellington, New Zealand, Jul 20, 2010 | by Diane JOYCE
THE owners of a piece of Central Hawke’s Bay history, the Tavistock Hotel, have put it on the market – looking to free up capital to expand their pub business in Australia.
The original building, built in the 1800s by Waipukurau founder Henry Russell, burnt down and was replaced in 1930, said sales agent Robbie McKee, of PGG Wrightson Real Estate.
“Because the Russell home was the only dwelling in the district, he and his wife frequently found themselves looking after travellers visiting the area.
“To accommodate these often uninvited and unexpected guests, Russell built the Tavistock Hotel on the site. He shortly afterwards expanded to develop [the township of] Waipukurau, employing a manager to run his hotel, which has remained in business ever since.”
The 2567-square-metre building houses Breakers Cafe and the Rosie O’Grady’s Irish pub. Mr McKee said his vendors, who owned the building and ran the pub, were selling on the basis of leasing it back long term.
They wanted the capital out of the building to develop the Breakers and Rosie O’Grady franchise in Australia.
The lease was set at $170,000 a year for an initial term of six years, with three further rights of renewal of four years.
The building’s latest capital valuation was $850,000, although that did not reflect a $500,000 refurbishment that was completed 18 months ago, Mr McKee said.
There was more scope for development, he said.
“The 35 upstairs accommodation rooms and manager’s flat could be developed into low-cost backpackers’ accommodation or conference facilities.”
The licence included 18 Lion Foundation gaming machines
