More snow on the way as big freeze bites back

FORECASTERS today predicted more snow is on the way after temperatures fell to -5C overnight.
Wintry weather returned to the city yesterday after rain gave way to snow flurries.
Freezing temperatures in Glasgow last night meant many motorists were forced to dig out the scrapers to remove a heavy frost from their windscreens today.
And forecasters predicted the city will see some snowfalls later today before temperatures rise for the remainder of the working week.
A spokesman for the Meteo Group said: “The minimum temperature was -5C and that was recorded at Glasgow Airport – it was pretty similar further down the Clyde coast in parts of Ayrshire.
“Today is mostly going to be dry with hazy sunshine, but you are going to see some snow coming in later on from the South West.
“We are looking at a couple of centimetres falling in Glasgow and there will be more on the hills. The rest of the working week is looking a bit warmer.”
Heavy snow is expected across Central Scotland, Lanarkshire and Fife. But the north east is set to escape, with the Highlands seeing blue skies.

Dell Small and Medium Business announced the evolvement Take Your Own Path beyond featuring real customer “heroes” in advertisements to building online and offline resources that offer no-nonsense advice, definitive technology solutions and strategies for using technology more effectively to address top business challenges.
“More and more, I hear from business owners that they need end- to-end technology solutions that drive growth, cut costs and improve customer service,” said Paul-Henri Ferrand, Dell’s chief marketing officer for Consumer, Small and Medium Business. “With the expansion of Take Your Own Path, we provide greater access to straightforward IT advice and bring businesses together to share best practices on growing a successful company.”
In collaboration with Intel, the Dell Take Your Own Path (TYOP) campaign introduces nine new founders and amplifies the stories of existing heroes who embrace technology, view it as a competitive advantage and serve as role models to others — bringing the total number to 50 companies across nine countries.
One such example is Sanjana Rathnam, Dell hero and designer and CEO of No-Ordinary Bride, a bridal gown house.
“Technology is really helping my business connect better with customers,” said Rathnam. “Being part of Take Your Own Path enables me to share our story and inspires us to implement new technology strategies like in-store videoconferencing that allows the bride to share the dress buying experience with her mother or best friend not there in person – which also helps us close the sale.”
“As we predicted at the start of 2010, small and medium businesses are spending again but only on solutions that provide demonstrable bottom and top line benefits,” said Laurie McCabe, partner, SMB-Group. “By showing technology solutions at work in real businesses, Dell’s Take Your Own Path campaign provides the evidence SMBs are looking for in terms of how technology is providing payback value.”
In addition to the campaign, Dell continues to make significant investments in building direct relationships with businesses on and off Dell.com. In June, Dell hosted the inaugural Dell Women’s Entrepreneur Network, an extension of the Take Your Own Path campaign, at the World Expo in Shanghai

Disney gives sneak peek of new Hawaii resort
0 Comments | Manila Bulletin, July 24, 2010
KAPOLEI, Hawaii (AP) – More than 80 years after Mickey Mouse piloted “Steamboat Willie” and whistled his way into the hearts of children across the world, he has finally reached the shores of Hawaii. The Walt Disney Co. on Friday gave a peek of its sprawling, beachside Hawaiian resort that is under construction and scheduled to open next year.”Aulani” is Disney’s first major standalone resort away from a theme park and could serve as a model for future projects as the company diversifies and expands its vacation offerings.”This is a very special project for us,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
“It’s unlike anything that Disney has done before; at the same time, it’s very like many of the things we do.”Aulani will have 359 hotel rooms, 481 time-share units, restaurants, a convention center, a 15,000-square-foot spa and a massive water play area that includes a volcano tube slide and snorkel lagoon. It sits on 21 acres on Oahu’s Leeward Coast in the Ko Olina development, known for its white sand lagoons, scenic golf course and colorful sunsets. Ko Olina is about an hour west of Waikiki, where most of the hotels and tourists are.Jim Lewis, president of Disney’s time-share component, said Hawaii makes “perfect sense” with its rich culture, traditions, warm greetings, family values, friendships and storytelling.”Those are also terms synonymous with Disney,” he said. “And by the way, Hawaii also happens to be one of the most popular vacation destinations on the planet, and that’s the business that we’re in.”Most of the resort is currently a jungle of concrete, steel, wires and pipes with no Mickey and Minnie in sight. Aulani is scheduled to open Aug. 29, 2011, with hotel reservations to begin next month. Time-share sales started three weeks ago. With the construction phase alone costing more than $600 million, Aulani represents a huge investment for Disney amid a sharp tourism downturn.Staggs, who previously served as Disney’s chief financial officer, wouldn’t comment on the final cost.”Are we nervous about this investment right now given this economy? The answer is we really aren’t,” he said. “We really do have a fundamental belief in this location and Hawaii in general.”Staggs called the project “a tremendous opportunity,” giving Disney a permanent presence in the islands. He wouldn’t say what other areas Disney was considering because “right now, our focus is right here and making sure we get this right.”According to an economic impact study commissioned by Disney, Aulani is expected to generate 4,800 jobs during construction

Wattles put it.
Jesus, the Master Teacher, once asked:
“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”
With that in mind…
My question for you to ponder today is…
Are you a “free thinker” like Mr. Krabs or an “intellectual prostitute” like Carl?
The choice is yours…
Make it a good one…
It may well mean the difference between having respect for yourself and being “a lost soul”.

Looking For a Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit? Consider All Your Options First
0 Comments | Posted by admin in Uncategorized
in Health / Wellness (submitted 2010-07-09)
Looking for a reverse osmosis water purification unit? I would suggest that you consider all of your options, before you buy one, AND if you are serviced by a public treatment facility, you should know that you DO NOT need one.
If you have a private well, numerous contaminants or impurities may be causing you problems. If you haven’t had testing done, you should take that step first. Once you know what contaminants are present, you can learn about how they can be removed. With the technology that is available today, it is unlikely that a reverse osmosis water purification unit is your only option.
Those of us who are on a public waterline don’t need to have testing completed. Our treatment facilities keep us informed about some of the contaminants that are present. Chlorine, THMs, VOCs and lead are examples. We have also been informed by the Environmental Protection Agency that cysts (illness causing parasites in an early stage of development) might be present at any time, because regular testing is considered “unfeasible”.
The EPA has warned that the illness caused by cyst consumption can be very serious, even fatal, to those who have weakened immune systems, either due to a long-term illness or the treatment of one, such as chemo-therapy or immuno-suppressive drugs.
They even warn that cysts may be present in some brands of bottled water, that exposure can occur when washing fresh fruits and vegetables or brushing your teeth. So, installing a system in your home that removes the contaminants is advisable, but you don’t need a reverse osmosis water purification unit to do that.
The units are expensive to install, operate and maintain. They do not remove chemical contaminants, such as chlorine, THMs and VOCs
